FULLY DIGITAL FOR KIDS:
THE CHILDREN'S WARD IN THE KRISTIANSTAD CLINIC STARTS 2022 WITH NEW SMT SYSTEMS FOR CONTACT MAINTENANCE AND TELE-LEARNING.
Kristianstad, January 2022: “The Lions help.” This is the mission statement of the globally active Lion's Clubs, to which the organisation in Sweden also feels committed. Under the goal of “promoting health”, “the spectrum of projects [...]” ranges “...from measures for prevention and emergency aid to rehabilitation and maintaining health”, as the German Lion's Club states on its website. The branch in Kristianstad, Sweden, has chosen a wonderful project for this – namely supporting the many girls and boys in the children's ward of the local clinic during their stay, which sometimes lasts several weeks and months. The sick children, especially under the conditions and social distancing regulations during the coronavirus pandemic, lack interaction with their families on the one hand and participation in school lessons on the other. The new SMT systems on the children's ward can be an important aid here.
A PROJECT WITH VISION BY MIKRONMED
With the SMT SMART MEDIATABLE, our long- term partner and medical technology specialist MikronMed, was able to present a very convincing solution both to the project sponsors of the Lion's Club and to those responsible for the clinic for children patients in Kristianstad to be able to communicate. The applications immediately convinced, and some of the systems could be installed and handed over shortly before Christmas.

Digital communication directly on the therapy chair or on the bed – mobile, flexible and customisable – is no longer a dream for the girls and boys on the ward in Kristianstad. The new SMT SMART MEDIATABLE systems offer them convenient access to digital services of all kinds in the therapy environment and during their stay in the clinic.
Individuality is decisive: the MicronMed consultants convinced the clinic that the children could use some of the systems in turns.
The incentive for children and young people as digital natives is of course very large: streaming via Netflix, Sky or Spotify, social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, online gaming, or many other web services – the SMT SMART MEDIATABLE offers opportunities just like home during the long therapy and stay periods.
But what counts even more from an overall perspective is that video calls with the family are suddenly possible, even under difficult circumstances. Telelearning or homeschooling in a clinic offers you the opportunity to not be thrown back too far regarding education despite being ill. And these new opportunities and perspectives that arise through the use of SMT systems often have an extremely positive effect on healing processes or convalescence.

SMT SMART MEDIATABLE – plug in, switch on, go
The SMT SMART MEDIATABLE is used like a side table and can be operated ergonomically while sitting or lying down. In clinics, you have a wide variety of possibilities to set it up in communal spaces, by beds or therapy chairs. The SMT paves the way to desirable and appropriate online services in a controlled manner. With its 17“ Full HD touchscreen integrated with the GREINER SMT Cart, it brings communication to a new level. Simply put, we can say that the SMT SMART MEDIATABLE is a side table with an integrated touchscreen that also meets the requirements for filing and storage functions.
In the event of a medical emergency, the safety lift of the SMT Cart is prepared, which safely accompanies the movement of the chair into the raised leg position and avoids blockages.
